Cabbage Patch Kid Crochet Diaper Free Pattern

I kept a lot of my old toys from when I was a kid. I planned on giving them to my children someday. Therefore, I still have three Cabbage Patch Kids. Poor things are over 30 years old.
One is the classic style and the other two are slightly smaller (one is a Pretty Crimp 'n Curl). Anyway, the diapers that came with them are over 30 years old, therefore fell apart, so I decided to crochet them some new diapers.
Here's the crochet diaper:


Crochet Cabbage Patch Diaper Pattern
Size H hook
Less than 1 skein of white yarn
Velcro
Small Diaper (for smaller Cabbage Patch Kid)
Ch 36
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook. Sc 34 (35)




Rows 2 - 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc 35 (35)
Fasten off.
Start a new row in the 6th stitch from beginning.




Row 1: Sc 25 (25)
Rows 2 – 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc 25 (25)
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 21, dec (23)
Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 17, dec, sc 1 (21)
Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 17, dec (19)
Row 8: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 13, dec, sc 1 (17)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 13, dec (15)
Row 10: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 9, dec , sc1 (13)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn. Dec 3, sc, dec 3  (7)
Row 12: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 1, dec, sc 1 (5)
Row 13: Ch 1, turn.  Dec, sc, dec (3)

Row 14: Ch 1, turn. Sc 3 (3)
Row 15: Ch 1, turn. Inc, sc 1, inc (5)
Ch 7. Fasten off.



Ch 8 and continue to crochet in the next row (so that you have 7 chains on one end and eight on the other).
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc 7 from the first ch, then sc 5 from the next row, then sc 7 in the last chs. (19)



Rows 2 -8: Ch 1, turn. Sc 19 (19)
Fasten off.
Weave in the ends.


Then cut a square of Velcro for each side of the diaper and sew on the front and the straps.




 Large Diaper (for classic Cabbage Patch Kid)
Ch. 41
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, then sc 39 (40)
Fasten off.
Start a new row in the 7th stitch from the beginning.
Row 1: Sc 28 (28)
Rows 2 – 8: Ch 1, turn. Sc 28 (28)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 24, dec (26)
Row 10: Ch 1, turn. 1 sc, dec, sc 20, dec, sc 1 (24)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 20, dec (22)
Row 12: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 16, dec, sc 1 (20)
Row 13: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 16, dec (18)
Row 14: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 12, dec, sc 1 (16)
Row 15: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 12, dec (14)
Row 16: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 8, dec, sc 1 (12)
Row 17: Ch 1, turn. Dec, sc 8, dec (10)
Row 18: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, dec, sc 4, dec, sc 1 (8)
Row 19: Ch 1, turn. Dec 4 (4)
Row 20: Ch 1, turn. Sc 4 (4)
Row 21: Ch 1, turn. Inc 4 (8)
Row 22: Ch 1, turn. Sc 1, inc, sc 4, inc, sc 1 (10)
Ch 7.  Fasten off.
